Steve Race, speaking in Parliament, says “People in #Exeter – and particularly women and shift workers – have raised with me their alarm at the Tory-led Devon County Council’s decision to dim and switch-off over 80% of streetlights in Devon.
Many people walk to work – or to bus stops and train stations – in Exeter during the dark hours and having well-lit streets is important for their safety and security.
Today I raised the issue in the House of Commons with Home Office ministers on behalf of these residents, and I completely back Rose Lelliott’s campaign to get DCC to think again – to consult with shift workers and women in particular in Exeter about areas where these street lights are vital.”
