Devon Labour Devon County Labour
Labour has been in power for just 9 months, but we’re getting on with the job. After 14 years of Conservative decline, we can’t fix everything overnight but here are just some of
the ways we’re already delivering on our promises:
- NHS: 2 million extra appointments delivered, waiting lists coming down and record number of treatments delivered
- Transport: Giving control of bus services back to local communities and bringing railways back into public ownership, starting with South Western Railway
- Crime: An extra £100 million for neighbourhood policing to tackle crime and ASB in our communities
- Homes: Transforming private renting through the Renters’ Rights Bill, including an end to no-fault evictions
- Sewage: Introduced new powers to tackle failing water companies and clean up our rivers and seas
Here in Devon, we have also secured:
- £22.5 million extra to fix potholes, £3.9 million for walking and cycling projects, and a share of £83 million to boost bus services in the South West
- 25,000 new urgent dental appointments across the county and school tooth-brushing programme being rolled out
- £300,000 for Young Devon to continue their mental health work with young people
- New government funding for Hospiscare, as part of the biggest investment into hospices in a generation
- Three primary schools in Exeter included in the pilot roll out of free breakfast clubs
