Feniton & Honiton
I am Honiton born and raised and attended local schools right through to the end of my A levels this year. I am currently working as a customer assistant in a local store.
Although only 18, I am the serving Secretary of the Tiverton and Honiton Constituency Labour Party – the youngest CLP Secretary in the country. Within this role, I have delved deep into the problems that face Feniton and Honiton – from food poverty to political cronyism, I have made it my single aim to really bolster our community in a way that is free and fair for all.
I am the founder of Honiton Foodsave, an organisation set up with the purpose of reducing food waste and food poverty within the town I call home. Along with our team of very dedicated volunteers, we have reached out into the community, providing free access to safe, surplus food throughout the week to anyone who needs it. The work I have done with Honiton Foodsave has really shown me how dire these times are for many of our friends and neighbours, and how important it is to reach out and lend a hand to our community.
I am also proud to be a part of Honiton Forward, working against the powers of cronyism within the town towards a truly positive town and community – one that we can all be proud to represent.
As an 18 year-old, some people have said to me that I am reaching too high, and that I’m not ready to serve on Devon County Council. Ultimately, that is for you as electors to decide. However, with my background and experience, I believe I am well-placed to be your next County Councillor. I will represent the communities of Feniton and Honiton as a fresh face and I have the energy, grit and determination to bring about positive and, crucially, real change for the people of our towns.
The Labour Party was set up as a driving force for the working communities of our nation. Together, we can work towards a community of fairness, equality and opportunity for all.
