Jake McLean
Northam
I have lived and worked in Torridge for over 20 years now, I spent my formative years at Bideford College. I worked at Appledore shipyard where I was the GMB rep and I led the now successful campaign to save the yard. I am a hardworking family man, with a wonderful wife and two children who go to school locally. Until recently I was a member and player at Bideford rugby club but due to injuries had to retire from playing.
I am standing as the Labour Party candidate in the upcoming Devon county council elections in Northam. As well as campaigning for the yard I have also been campaigning for my local area, especially people working in manufacturing, where I was recently awarded the manufacturing activist of the year for my work involving the shipyard by GMB union.
I want to give a voice to the people so that they feel that they have someone who will listen to them and act on their behalf.
I want to make our part of the world a clean and safe place to live, a part of Devon we can really be proud of.
