Paula has been a teacher for over 30 years. She has spent many of those years working in the special education area, with some of our most vulnerable students in society. Paula has witnessed the direct impact the loss of services such as Sure Start has had. She has seen how poverty impacts families with children needing Special Educational Needs and Disability
(SEND) services.

Working together to help improve the area, Paula has spent a lot of time involved in the community. She has volunteered for several community groups working on social justice, domestic abuse, sustainable transport, and environmental projects across Devon.

She said: “I became the main carer for my dad, due to my mum’s poor health, when he was diagnosed with early dementia. His long slow decline has given me the knowledge and understanding of what many families experience when trying to access services for a loved one from Devon County Council. I feel that these experiences will help ensure that if I am
successfully elected, I would have the knowledge and skills to deliver for you in Pinhoe & Mincinglake.”
