Along Broadfields Road in St Loyes, the roads are named after English composers and it’s always summer. On the evening of Tuesday 16 May 2017, during Art Week Exeter, Sine Nomine serenaded the neighbourhood with the music of each composer on their eponymous street corner.

We started in Britten Drive EX2 5RY then moved to Coates Road, Grainger Close, Stanford Road, Sullivan Road, Walton Road, Delius Crescent, Purcell Close, finishing at Elgar Close with a rousing chorus.

Coates Road “Sleepy Lagoon” (Desert Island Discs theme plus lyrics), and “Dambusters March” with audience participation
Grainger Close “Brigg Fair” and “Country Garden”
Stanford Road “My Love’s an Arbutus” and “Heraclitus”
Sullivan Road first verses of “It came upon the midnight clear” and “Onward Christian soldiers” with audience participation, and “The long day closes”
Walton Road “Set me as a seal upon thine heart” and “What cheer?”

Purcell Close “Rejoice in the Lord” (the Bell Anthem)
Elgar Close “As Torrents in Summer”, and “Land of Hope and Glory” with audience participation
